Bosch EDC17CP14 — a Common Rail diesel ECU built on the Infineon TriCore core. Firmware protection combines a software calibration CRC and a cryptographic signature (RSA/CVN) over the CFG and CAL areas; after editing, these sums must be recalculated or the unit will reject the file.

Recalculation is needed after any calibration edit — Stage 1 V8 TDI (340 → 430 hp / 800 → 920 Nm), Stage 2 (с downpipe — 480 hp), Stage 3 (hybrid turbos — 550+ hp), AdBlue/SCR off (V8 TDI с AdBlue после 2010), DPF off (двойной — left/right bank), EGR off (по обоим bank-ам), Speed limiter off, Throttle valve disable, DTC removal (P204F/P229F двойные), Hot start fix: the checksum no longer matches, and the ECU throws an error or refuses the firmware.
