Bosch EDC17C04 — a Common Rail diesel ECU built on the Infineon TriCore core. Firmware protection combines a software calibration CRC and a cryptographic signature (RSA/CVN) over the CFG and CAL areas; after editing, these sums must be recalculated or the unit will reject the file.

Recalculation is needed after any calibration edit — Stage 1 (140 → 175 hp / 320 → 380 Nm), DPF off (физический + калибровочный), EGR off, Flap off, Throttle valve disable, DTC removal (P2002/P0299), Hot start fix, Cold start enrichment: the checksum no longer matches, and the ECU throws an error or refuses the firmware.
