Bosch MED174 — a direct-injection petrol ECU on the TriCore core. The flash is encrypted and RSA-signed; the calibration checksums are recalculated separately after tuning.

This unit is found on petrol vehicles Citroen, Peugeot (2008–2010) — a total of 14 models, among them Citroen Berlingo, Peugeot 207, Citroen C3, Citroen C4, Citroen C4 Coupe, Citroen C4 Grand Picasso.

Recalculation is needed after any calibration edit — Stage 1, Stage 2, Stage 3, Pop & Bang / decat, Launch control, Speed limiter off, OPF/GPF off, Lambda off, DTC removal, Cold start fix: the checksum no longer matches, and the ECU throws an error or refuses the firmware.
