Siemens (Continental) SIMOS — a VAG-platform petrol ECU (TFSI/TSI). Protection consists of an immobiliser flag and a calibration checksum (MapHash) — after tuning, the checksum must be restored.

Recalculation is needed after any calibration edit — Stage 1, Stage 2, DPF off, EGR off, AdBlue/SCR off, DTC removal, Flap off, Lambda off, Speed limiter off, Torque monitor off, Hot start fix: the checksum no longer matches, and the ECU throws an error or refuses the firmware.
