What is CVN?
CVN (Calibration Verification Number) is a 32-bit hash that the ECU computes from its calibration data. Diagnostics and OEM scanners read this number to verify the firmware against a reference signature. After tuning the CVN no longer matches the original — readiness monitors may fail and scanners may flag the unit as 'modified'.
What does this calculator do?
The tool restores the CVN of the modified Mercedes MED177 firmware so it matches the original, and automatically recalculates all CRC / ADD checksums (passes before and after the CVN) so the file is ready to flash.

What is the difference between a FULL dump and an OBD virtual dump?
A FULL dump is a complete copy of the ECU memory (8 or 7.75 MB), read via bench, boot-mode or OBD full read. It contains all the service sections needed for CVN. A virtual OBD dump is a snapshot of the calibration only — those sections are absent, so recalculation is not possible.
Is the original (ORI) required or is the modified file enough?
Both files are required: the original (ORI) and the modified file (MOD) of the same firmware version. The tool compares them, finds the affected regions and recalculates only the needed checksums without touching the rest of the calibration.
Why does the scanner show the ECU as 'modified'?
Diagnostics compares the current CVN against the factory reference signature. After tuning the calibration changes and the CVN differs — the scanner flags the unit as modified and readiness checks may fail. CVN recalculation fixes this for the ECU itself (we do not affect the OEM reference database).
How much does the recalculation cost and how long does it take?

Is this safe for the ECU?
